Day 6

Day 5
Pembroke Athletics Club's Olivia Sandery has finished fourth in the 10,000m Race Walk at the World Athletics U20 Championships, clocking 47:37.85.
Only a one-minute time penalty could deny world leader Sandery the Bronze Medal in the 10,000m Race Walk, with the Australian crossing the line in third place in a time of 46:37.85 before sliding to a consequential fourth-place finish having not served her penalty after three cards.
Sandery walked the most mature of races in a see-sawing affair that saw multiple attacks from the world’s best young walkers, but the Australian remained patient and only cracked in the 25th and final lap as Mexico’s Karla Ximena Serrano charged to a popular victory in the dying metres.
Describing the result as “disappointing”, the harsh self-critic has made strong impressions on the world stage in 2022 after finishing in fifth place of the 10km at the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships in March, but an individual medal will have to wait – and it might not be long.
It was a nervous wait for Saints Athletics Club thrower Darcy Miller after recording 57.77m to finish in sixth place of Group A in the Discus Qualification, but the Australian is officially Finals bound with the ninth best performance of the day.
“I was hoping for a PB but there are a few things to work on in the final. I’m so glad to have this experience and however it ends up, I’ll be happy with it. It’s the first time I have put on the green and gold and I’m already looking forward to the second,” Miller said.
Etienne Rousseau (Didier Poppe) mustered a 53.11m effort but ultimately failed to advance to the final, enjoying every moment of his international debut in Cali regardless.

Day 4
Saints Athletics Club sprinter Aidan Murphy returned to Cali on Friday morning (ACST) to represent Australia in the Men's 4X100m Relay.
It wasn't to be Murphy's day, as his Relay team Did Not Finish in Heat 4, failing to make the changeover heading into the final straight.
This ended Murphy's campaign at the Championships, having represented Australia in the Relay and the 200m yesterday, running 20.84 in the Semi Final.
He also ran in the 200m at the World Athletics Championships in the USA last month.
Pembroke's Olivia Sandery will compete in the 10,000m Walk Final at 11:00pm ACST tonight (Thursday).
Sandery has had recent experience on the World stage, winning a Silver Medal at the 2022 World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships in the 10,000m Distance.
Saints thrower Darcy Miller will also commence his World Athletics U20 Champiosnhips campaign on Day 5, competing in the Men's Discus Qualifying from 11:55pm ACST on Friday.
Aidan Murphy
Day 3
Tea Tree Gully Athletic Centre teenager Marley Raikiwasa finished ninth in the Women's Discus Final at the World Athletics U20 Championships on Thursday morning.
The 16-year-old threw 48.74m in the Final, while Sweden's Emma Sralla took out the Title with 56.15m.
Raikiwasa - who can return to the World Athletics U20 Championships for the next two years - threw 50.51m in qualifying on Day 1 (fifth overall).
Today was a different story on what was an incredibly rain-interrupted day, with some events being delayed by two hours.
One of those interrupted by the delay was Saints Athletics Club's Aidan Murphy, who ran a Heat and Semi Final of the 200m on Thursday morniing.
Murphy ran second in his 200m Heat in the early hours of Thursday morning, running 20.85 to progress through to the Semi Final.
He returned following the rain delay to run 20.84 in the Semi, finishing third in his race.
It wasn't enough for Murphy to make it through to the Final tomorrow. Queensland's Calab Law made it through to the 200m Final, running a PB 20.42.
Murphy is scheduled to return tomorrow for the 4X100m Relay Heat.

Day 2
There was no South Australian athletes in action on Day 2.
Tea Tree Gully thrower Marley Raikiwasa will be competing in her Discus Final on Day 3 (Thursday, August 4) while Saints Athletics Club sprinter Aidan Murphy will be making his World U20 debut in the Men's 200m.
First up is Murphy's 200m Heat at 1:55am ACST, with the Semi Final to follow at 6:05am, while Raikiwasa's Final will take place at a far more practical time of 7:44am ACST.
Tomorrow (Thursday, August 4) is Day 3 of the Championships, which is taking place in Colombia.
Raikiwasa threw 50.51m in the Qualifying Rounds on Tuesday morning, finishing third in Group A and fifth overall.
Murphy - who is fresh off his debut at the World Athletics Championships in the USA last month - is set to return on Friday for the 4X100m Relay Heats and a 200m Final if he Qualifies.
Olivia Sandery's 10,000m Walk Final, and Darcy Miller's Discus Qualifying will take place on Friday night ACST.
DAY 1
Marley Raikiwasa competed in the Women's Discus competition in Cali on Tuesday morning.
Raikiwasa threw 50.51m in Group A of qualifying, which was enough to progress through to the Final, which will be held on Day 3 (7:45am Thursday ACST).
The 16-year-old Tea Tree Gully athlete finished third in her Group and Qualified fifth overall.
Fellow Australian Laylani Va'ai threw 45.23m, which didn't progress her through to the Final.
Only Sweden's Emma Sralla threw an Automatic Qualifier, with 54.51m, while Raikiwasa has a PB of 52.59m.
Raikiwasa won the 2022 Australian U18 and U20 Discus Titles, and holds four State Records across Discus and Shot Put.
