SA shines at the Junior National Combined Event Champs

Leila Croker, Georgie Fielder and Charlotte McAuliffe won Gold at the Australian U15-U18 Combined Events Championships held in Sydney over the weekend, as five SA athletes returned home with medals.

Croker of the Western Athletics Club won the Women's U17 Heptathlon title with 5006 points, ahead of Siena Farrell of Victoria (4819) and Queensland's Charlize Goody (4807).

Fellow Western athlete, Fielder, won the Women's U15 Heptathlon with 4688 points, edging out Victorian duo Jamison Towers (4434) and Jazmin Firth (4359).

Pembroke's Charlotte McAuliffe secured the U16 Heptathlon title with 4712 points, ahead of Tasmania's Abbey Berlese (4630) and Isabella Wing (4522).

Western athlete Lachlan Rudd finished second in the Men's U18 Decathlon with 4771, behind dominant winner Uchenna Egbu of NSW, who finished with 5422 points. 

Zayden Kamish of the Southern Athletics Club also finished second in his Men's U16 Heptathlon with 4299. Joshua Osborne took out the U16 competition with 4372.

Other locals to compete were Sandro Purugganan (Saints Athletics Club), who finished seventh in the Men's U16 Heptathlon with 3609 points, Pembroke's Ashley James (sixth in the Women's U15 Heptathlon, 4033), Pembroke's Lucy Allen (eighth in the Women's U16 Heptathlon, 3689) and Saints' Sophie Rogers (16th in the Women's U16 Heptathlon, 2206).
