Medals and PBs for SA's Distance athletes over the weekend

Pembroke Athletics Club's Olivia Sandery and SA Masters Athletics' Kim Mottrom both stepped onto the podium at the 2022 Australian and Oceania 35km Race Walk Championships in Melbourne yesterday.
While still able to compete in the 10km U20 category, Sandery raced in the Open Women's 20km Race Walk and finished third overall in what was her first attempt over that distance.
Victorian Jemima Montag claimed the Australian and Oceania Gold Medals in 1:32:32, while Columbian Sandra Lorena Arenas finished second with 1:34:27.
Sandery challenged the Columbian Olympic Silver Medallist, finishing in 1:34:35, ahead of Victoria's Alanna Peart (1:42:39).
Sandery and Peart claimed a Silver Medal at the 2022 World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships in Oman in March, representing Australia in the Women's U20 10km Race Walk event.

Mottrom finished fourth overall in the Open Men's 35km Race Walk in 3:03:17, but claimed the Bronze Medal in the race for the Australian title, with New Zealand's Quentin Rew winning the 35km Oceania Title in 2:32:58.
Victoria's Rhydian Cowley (2:37:57) and NSW's Carl Gibbons (2;43:04) rounded out the race in second and third positions respectively.

After spending recent weeks competing in the USA, Flinders Athletic Club's Isobel Batt-Doyle ran in the Women's UKA Championships 10,000m race on May 21.
Tokyo Olympian Batt-Doyle ran 31:40.10 to set a three-second PB, which landed her in fifth place overall in the London-based Track Meet.
"It was an amazing event running through a beer tent with the loudest crowd and buzzing atmosphere," she said via an Instagram post.
"While I was still off the WC qualifier which is the ultimate goal it was a solid improvement from last Friday (May 6) in California where I ran 31:58.25 finishing in seventh place.
"More than the times, I felt better tonight and really enjoyed being out there racing."
Batt-Doyle will run the 5000m at the Birmingham Diamond League next Saturday.
"(I am) feeling grateful to be travelling the World running and having some pretty amazing experiences," she said.
"Thanks for the messages and support on the good and bad days."
SA's Matthew Clarke, Isaac Heyne, Caitlin Adams, Adam Goddard and Max Stevens are also on Tour in the US.
Clarke, Stevens (3000m Steeplechase) and Goddard (1500m) are next scheduled to compete in the USATF Distance Classic this Friday, May 20 (SA time) in California.
