EVENT INFORMATION:
The event information below is based on the 2019 & 2020 event details. This information is definitely subject to change, and will be updated as soon as the 2021 information is available.
The Gold Coast will welcome athletes competing across the 42.2km event run alongside the city’s renowned surf beaches south to the Burleigh Heads turn point and then head north along to Paradise Point before being championed to the finish chute located adjacent to the Broadwater in Southport.
The Sunshine Coast will welcome athletes competing across 21.1km, along the picturesque course through Maroochydore and Mooloolaba.
All state and territory member associations are invited to send up to six (6) male and six (6) female athletes to contest the 2021 Australian Marathon Championships & Half-Marathon Championships. The top three athletes from each gender will accumulate points towards a team score, as well as competing for the Australian Championship title.
Athletics SA is now accepting nominations to compete at this years championships for Team SA. ASA will send a maximum of twelve athletes, the top three male and top three female athletes may have access to an assistance package offered by Athletics Australia.
NOTE: All athletes must meet the necessary qualification standard to be selected for this championships.
Marathon Qualifying Standards:
Male : 3:00.00 Female: 3:40.00
Half-Marathon Qualifying Standards:
Male: 1:20.00 Female: 1:40.00
General Selection Information:
- Only financial members of a State or Territory Member Association are eligible to compete for an Australian Championship as an individual or in a team category.
- Athletics Australia encourage nominated participants to wear their state or territory uniform when competing.
- Prize money is available at this event. Please refer to the event website for more information.
- For the team event, the first three male and female finishers from each competing member association will be scored and be eligible for the respective team medals.
Assistance Package:
- Free event entry.
- One night's twin share accommodation, ground support & transport, and a per diem of $150 (for approved applicants from the event organiser).
- Facilitate access into/out of the event venue for the athlete briefing, and on event day.
- Use of the elite athlete facilities on race day (e.g. dressing room).
- An elite start at the front of the field.
