Team SA set to take on 2018 Australian Cross Country & Walks Championships

Team SA is set to challenge at the Australian Cross Country and Winter Race Walking Championships held August 25th and 26th on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. 

Maleny Golf Course will serve as a challenging course for participants in the Australian Cross Country Championships. Athletes aged under 14, under 16, under 18, under 20 and Open will compete over their respective distances as they challenge for individual and team success! The Australian Cross-Country Championships is delivered by Athletics Australia and Schools Sport Australia. 

Team SA is headlined by our Open State Champions Adrian Potter and Caitlin Adams after claiming the titles at SA Cross Country Championships in July.

Joining Adrian Potter in the Men's point scoring team of 6 is a strong Flinders Athletics Club trio in 
Riley Cocks, Jacob Cocks and Lachlan Scott. Featuring from the Hills Districts Athletics Club will be Dan Canala and T46 1500m & 5000m World Record Holder Michael Roeger. The team is in a good position to claim a teams medal if all goes well on race day.

Potter is joined by Adelaide Harriers training partners Bryn Nicholls (Straight from a Half Marathon PB last week!)Michael Nitschke and Paul Mulholland who will be looking to defend their National Clubs title from last year! 

Caitlin Adams (Hills Districts Athletics Club) is joined by Aleesha Robertson (Adelaide Harriers) in her first national championships. Although our women don't have a full team they will be seeking some individual success at the championships.

In the Junior ranks, Isaac Heyne (Pembroke Athletics) and Harrison Bagley (Tea Tree Gully) form a strong duo in the U20 8km Men's event, while Brooke McGregor (Hills Districts Athletics Club) and Sophie Morphett (Pembroke Athleticswill take on the 6k U20 Women's event.

Matt Axford will be at the event as Team Manager and providing photos and updates as they become available.

The Australian Winter Walking Championships held at Lake Kawana Precinct will ensure a bumper weekend of Athletics on the Sunshine Coast! Team SA will feature 2 representatives in Kiera Ross (U14 3km) and Olivia Sandery (U16 5km)
