Five South Australians to Represent Australia in Fiji

The 2016 Oceania Melanesian Regional Athletics Championships are to be held in Suva, Fiji on the 7th to the 9th of July.

An exciting event that brings together the island nations in a festival of culture and Track and Field.

The Australian team will be comprised of U18 and Open athletes, with the addition of a Para Athletes competing over 4 exhibition events.

Along with Australia and the host nation Fiji, 7 more nations make up the Melanesian Region. These include Kirbati, New Caledonia, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Tuvalu.

 South Australia are well represented by five athletes.

  • Jack Stolarski (U18 TJ & LJ)
  • Rhainnon Lovegrove (U18 5000m Walk)
  • Michael Brusnahan (Open 200m)
  • Sam Paech (Para Shot Put & Javelin)
  • Dean Pastrello (Octathlon).

We will be keeping a close eye on the results as they filter through and wish the athletes the best of luck.
