Athletics SA was fortunate to receive a grant from the Australian Sports Commission in partnership with the Australian Government Office for Women, to assist female coaches within athletics to reach their full potential.

Coaching has been identified as a critical area for action at all levels of athletics in South Australia. In particular, there is a need to engage more women as accredited coaches and as leaders within athletics clubs and centres. Through the study conducted by One Eighty Sports and Leisure Services on behalf of Little Athletics SA last year, the lack of available skilled coaches was identified as one of the primary barriers to retention and increasing participation in athletics in South Australia.

This grant will enable up to 40 South Australian females to undertake the Athletics Australia Level 2 Intermediate Club Coach course (normally $250) or Level 2 Advanced Coach - Event Group Specific course (valued at $150) and a Professional Development Workshop.

We would like to invite our club committees to promote this opportunity to any members who they believe would be suitable candidates. We also invite all Little Athletics centre committees to promote this opportunity to all parents and members.

Level 2 Course (two day course).

·         Saturday October 15th and Sunday October 16th, 2016     8:30am to 5pm
