COMPLETE A MARATHON AS A TEAM!
Grab your Athletics SA club members, SARRC runners, parkrun buddies, school friends or work collegues and form a team of 6 to experience the marathon distance!

Ekiden (駅伝) is a Japanese term which generally refers to a long-distance relay running race, typically conducted on roads. The ASA Ekiden Relay is a relay run over the marathon distance of 42.195km and half marathon distance 21.097km and is split into 6 legs of varying distances. These appear below

MARATHON: 6.195km + 4km + 10km + 8km + 6km + 8km
HALF MARATHON: 4.097km + 2km + 5km (2.5 laps) + 4km + 2km + 4km

The course is set on a 2km circuit along War Memorial Drive, allowing you to cheer on your team mates! If the full distance is too far, give the half a try!

TEAM MAKEUP

Each team consists of 6 runners. These runners can be made up of any combination of males and females and age groups (e.g. all males, all females, mixture of males and females). Teams can also enter either the half of full marathon distances.

To be eligible for Ekiden victory and course records, teams must consist of at least 2 females and at least 2 males

ASA CLUB WINTER POINT SCORING
Scoring is not determined on where the team finishes, it is based on individual performance and then points are assigned to the athletes respective age category.
• ASA club members can earn Round Two Premiership Points in either the Full or Half Marathon distances, no matter their age category.
• ASA Members’ individual performances will be assigned a ranking using the ASA Ekiden Relay Scoring Table for their individual relay leg.
• This ranking will determine their position within their age group and then Club points will then be allocated the same way regular winter events are scored.

Athletics SA members may run multiple relay legs, but must be within different teams. They will only point score once.
