Grants and Resources

There are various funding bodies that provide grants to local sporting clubs & associations. Grants are available to upgrade facilities, develop skills, purchase equipment or support athletes. As well as those grant opportunities outlined above, below is a list of websites to help you search for funding that suits your particular needs.

  • Community GrantGuru is Australia's largest FREE searchable listing of nation-wide grants and funding programs for community-based and nonprofit organisations. Community GrantGuru covers grants and funding sources for Sport, Community Services, Environment, Community Infrastructure, Mulitcultural projects, Volunteers, Awards, Safety and much more.   • Our Community is a world-leading social enterprise that provides advice, tools and training for Australia's 600,000 community groups and schools, and practical linkages between the community sector and the general public, business and government. The Community Funding Centre found on the Our Community website provides free help sheets, services, newsletters, books and training to help community groups improve their fundraising abilities and become healthier and more viable.   • Community Benefit SA (CBSA) provides one-off project funding to incorporated, non-government, non-profit organisations to develop and strengthen communities across South Australia. Grants aim to improve the community participation, life management skills, well-being and quality of life of disadvantaged individuals, families and communities.   • Cash 4 Clubs is a funding scheme for sports clubs who are registered with their sport’s national governing body. Clubs can apply for a grant up to $1,000 to maintain and improve their club. Visit www.cash-4-clubs.com  for further information.

Australian Sports Commission- Local Sporting Champions

The Local Sporting Champions Grant is offered to young people aged between 12-18 years attending a State, National or International competition as an athlete, coach, umpire or referee. Grants are offered to the value of $500 for individuals, and $3000 for teams. Layne Beachley - Aim for the stars foundation

The Layne Beachley Aim for the Stars Foundation was created to inspire girls and women (From 12yrs old) across Australia to dream and achieve. The program offers ambitious and dedicated females an opportunity to receive financial and moral support to help them achieve their goals. The foundation’s support will give them the opportunity to maintain a determined focus on their goal, to achieve their dreams earlier in life and allow them to further their ambitions and aim for the stars. Australian Sports Commission - Sport Leadership Grants and Scholarships for Women Program

The Sport Leadership Grants and Scholarships for Women program provides women with opportunities to undertake training to reach their leadership potential within the industry as coaches, officials and administrators. Local City Council

Many local councils in South Australia offer financial grants and assistance to athletes in their areas. These can range from $50-$500 annually, depending on level of competition and age. Provided below is a list of councils currently offering grants in the area of sport and recreation. Please contact your local council for more information. Please note: Councils not listed may still be able to offer financial assistance to athletes, so please contact them for further information on applying.
